The Royal We Options

The royal couple married on Friday and I began to wonder why that is still the main focus of the news media today, Monday. The news corps is touting the fact that 23 million Americans watched the wedding ceremony on Friday morning, many watched again Friday evening and continue to want to find out all the details of the couples lives. As I thought about this morning I realized that it could be that we are still dreaming of that fairy tale marriage where everyone lives happily ever after. We are expecting this marriage to be the one that thrives in a world of despair. This is the one that will give us hope that we can have one too. We expect this one to work because the couple is expected to live by the rules of the crown, which is, divorce is not an option.

The Royal We Relationship

Because divorce is not an option for this couple they must find a way to work out their differences and build a relationship that they can live in. The good news is that we can have this same opportunity if we also accept the rule to exclude the divorce option from our marriages and learn to fix our problems. Marriage is the one relationship that we can't hide our problems for long from our partner and if we don't find a fix for them then we only make the problem larger as it infects other aspects of our relationship, until it seems to be a problem we can't solve and therefore divorce is justified in our minds.

We need to learn to fix the problems in our marriage whether we are the royal couple or the lowly couple. It is only by learning to fix issues that we can have a truly successful marriage, which is a joy to participate in. marriage takes work because it is a situation that requires us to be extremely close to another human being with sinful tendencies just like me. Those sinful tendencies, if not corrected will drive any two people apart or make them miserable, if they try to hold together. If you want to have a strong marriage then get ready to work and find a way to learn to work out the issues that arise in your marriage so they don't become a marriage breaker. Allow yourself to accept help in building you marriage into the blessing God wants you to have.
